NEW: Journey to the North Pole - GSA Social Committee

GSAs Journey to the North Pole to Help Santa

We are excited to again be supporting the Believe in Books Foundation’s Journey to the North Pole experience! It’s a bit of a departure from our usually social activity but a great way to get together, get into the holiday spirit, have a lot of fun and for NHGSA to give back to a great cause. The money Believe in Books raises goes toward funding their Literacy Programs.

Check out our fabulous experience from last year at www.nhgsa.com/Blog/5661749 We will be volunteering on Friday December 14th, 2018 as Elves for both the afternoon and evening shows. It will be from approximately 3:45p to 8:45p. There is a break between shows for at least an hour and they will provide us dinner (pizza most likely). The train leaves the station with all the families for the first show at about 4:30pm and the second show at about 7pm for a 2 hour adventure. You can check out there website for more info. http://www.journeytothenorthpole.org/

We will provide more exact times, address, directions and other details when it gets closer to the event. The North Pole is surprisingly close to Lincoln! We will be provided with full costumes that go over your regular clothes. We’ll be outside when we escort families to and from the train. It’s a short walk up a path. The rest of the time will be in the theater. During the show, we will be on stage. So dress appropriately, layers are good. Some notes for this event:

  • This is a long event (about 5 hours). There will be time and places to sit when we are getting ready and during the break. During the performance, I believe we are standing.
  • GSAs will receive volunteer hours for your time (even though we'll be wearing a different uniform)
  • You may bring guests! It’s a great opportunity to introduce a friend or loved one to the GSAs.
  • Some of us plan to stay that night. More details to come. You will need to make your own arrangements. You will want to pick out your elf name and age.
  • You may want to bring a flashlight. We have lanterns during the event but it may be useful returning to the car.
  • Signups will be via Evite. If you are not currently on the Evite list, please send an email to socialcommittee@nhgsa.com.
  • You will also earn an added perk. Volunteering for Believe in Books Literacy Foundation means you are eligible to purchase Journey to the North Pole tickets, in advance of the general public, for specific dates. This would be for next year. This is great if you are thinking of attending.

This is truly an amazing event for a very worthwhile cause. We hope you can join us! Let us know if you have any questions!
