History
– The Granite State Ambassadors organization was established. Volunteers were trained to staff the new NH Information Booth at the 1 year old Manchester Airport.
– Granite State Ambassadors incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable corporation. Our first GSA Achievement Award Luncheon was held at NH College to honor those GSA who had achieved 100-500 hours of volunteer service. There were 20 participants in attendance including all board member, guests, and volunteers! The GSA of the Year (Georgie & Charlie Reagan), Hospitality from the Heart (Mary Osborne), and the Service Awards (Jean Acton) were established.
– GSA, Inc. established our “Regional” membership program and welcomed the Salem Welcome Center and the Capital Region Visitor Center to the group. The “Regional Manager’s” and “Special” Awards were established (today they are referred to as our Merit Awards).
– GSA, Inc. reached its five year anniversary. To celebrate we awarded our Inaugural Class of 1996 with their 5-Year GSA pins. The tradition continues today.
- GSA, Inc. incorporated our first “committee” structure. This process has brought GSAs to the table to help plan and execute GSA activities and programs from finance to social activities to awards.
– The Annual Achievement Awards became the “AMBIES”. The new name not only captured the new excitement of committee work, but it also captured the sense of a new era for GSAs. Family members, supporters, and special guest were invited, for the first time, to enjoy the celebration.
– GSA, Inc. moved from a regional membership program to an individual center program, expanding our reach to now include 18 visitor centers with volunteer and professional GSAs from around the state. We also began tracking volunteer hours served at “official” GSA Special Events.

– GSA, Inc. reached its ten year anniversary. To celebrate we awarded our Inaugural Class of 1996 with a gold colored GSA logo key chain. The tradition will continue.
– GSA, Inc moved the AMBIES program from a (historically) fall 2007 event to a spring 2008 event.
– Through many changes and 800 GSAs later, our GSAs of the Year Nominating Committee has established written criteria and an open nomination process. We hope you participate in the process.
- We have gone digital! GSAs can nominate their fellow GSAs and associates for AMBIE Awards on-line. All AMBIE Award detials, guidelines, nominations, and awards are listed on our website.
